On Going Foot Health
I am dedicated to providing customised care for patients who may experience difficulty in reaching their feet or attending clinic appointments. My focus is on delivering personalised support to ensure each individual receives the attention they need. In addition to offering hands-on assistance, I will provide expert advice on how to improve stability and mobility, thereby significantly reducing the risks of falls.
One off Assessment and Advice
Sometimes, all you need is some advice and guidance on certain foot related issues. I have seen thousands of feet in my career as a Podiatrist. These feet belong to people from all walks of life, so please be reassured, I have most probably come across your condition many times before and there is nothing more satisfying like having happy patients with happy feet!
Ingrown Toenails
I have a gentle touch and a patient approach to treating these rather painful ingrown toe nails. One treatment is usually enough to significantly reduce the discomfort. I can assess and work out a management plan to keep you pain free going forward. Sometimes, a minor surgical procedure may be required which requires the use of Local Anaesthetic and phenol. I carry out these procedures at Carmenta life in Berkhamsted.
General Foot Care
Nail Care: My comprehensive nail care services include meticulously trimming, thinning, and managing thickened, fungal, or ingrown toenails to ensure your feet stay healthy and pain-free. Callus & Corn Removal: I specialise in the treatment of thickened or painful areas of skin that are caused by pressure or friction, providing relief and restoring comfort to your feet. Fungal Infections: I can effectively manage fungal nail or skin infections, offering personalised treatment plans, and educating you on essential preventative measures to help you maintain optimal foot health and avoid future issues.
Pain and Mobility Issues
Pain in the feet can be debilitating. I always start by taking a thorough history and then after examination, a management plan is created. This may include a step by step approach involving the use of padding, orthotics, taping, exercising and footwear modifications. Pain relief is monitored over a period of time.
This type of examination is called a Biomechanics Assessment. It is an evaluation of how your muscles, joints and bones work together when you stand, walk or run. Sometimes, an orthotic may be suggested that may help with your discomfort. These can be ready made or bespoke depending on what is needed.
Diabetic Foot Care and Foot Assessment
I am able to provide Diabetic Foot Assessments giving you, the patient clear understanding of your circulatory and neurological foot health risk. Going forward this helps prevent diabetic related foot complications . I am able to provide wound care and monitoring for signs of ulcers or infections and refer onwards to the nearest nhs acute Podiatry care if needed. I can also advise on footwear and hosiery suited to your individual foot conditions.
Pedisafe Nail Reconstruction
Pedisafe is an enhancing, remodelling and correction system developed to correct nail damage cosmetically. The formula used merges state- of- the art toenail repair with potent antifungal agents, turning fragile and damaged nails into resilient beauties. This nail reconstruction has greater flexibility and is completely safe to use on Fungal nails, discoloured or thick nails. A gel is professionally applied in layers and then cured with LED light. Depending on how much existing nail there is at the start and how much trauma the nail is exposed to, the prosthetic nail will last approximately 6-8 weeks. If there is no existing nail at the start, a prothetic nail can be created, but it will stay in position for only a few days. You can however re use the nail by using nail glue for special occasions.
Common Conditions
Some of the most common conditions I see are: Corns and Callus - these can pop up on any area of the foot which is exposed to rubbing or pressure. Common areas are, on the toe joints, under the metatarsal heads, heel area and even in between the toes! Bunions and Hammer Toes - Advice and management aiming to reduce discomfort and worsening. Verrucas - understanding these lesions are key to management. Treatment involves, debridement and the use of a variety of modalities. Heel Pain: - involves assessment of the joints in the feet, footwear and looking at your gait and lifestyle. Some simple physical therapy may be suggested.
Toe Nail Surgery
Toenail surgery is a minor surgical procedure used to treat problematic toenails, usually when conservative treatments have failed. It is mostly performed for ingrown toenails, chronic infections ot thickened/ damaged nails , sometimes for heavily fungal toenails. Types of Toenail Surgery Partial Nail Avulsion (PNA) - where only the affected section of the nail is removed. Total Nail Avulsion (TNA) - The entire nail is removed. This is carried out at Carmenta Life Health and Wellness centre in Berkhamsted. A pre op assessment must be carried out, which may be arranged via a zoom consultation. The toe is numbed using local anaesthetic and the problematic part is carfully removed. A chemical is then applied (usually) to prevent regrowth. The procedure usually takes about 1 to 1 and a half hrs of appointment time and it is advised not to drive for the rest of the day.

What My Clients Say
Since Jemini has been looking after my feet, they have been pain free from corns and other sores. She has a well thought out treatment program and she carries this out with great skill and experience.
Since moving to Berkhamsted a year ago, Jemini has been attending to my feet on a regular basis. Her visits are always welcome as I feel such a difference after her treatment. Without her skill and care, I would not be able to enjoy my daily walks. I no longer drive so I am very grateful that she comes to my house and treats me here.
Jemini started helping to look after Mum’s feet when Mum became housebound. What a relief this was! Jemini has a very calm and reassuring demeanour which is ideal when dealing with Mum’s Alzheimers and anxiety. As family, we have felt reassured by Jemini’s visits. Knowing Mum is safe is paramount and Jemini is totally trustworthy. She has kept us informed after each visit and proved helpful and flexible.
Jemini has been caring for my daughters feet for over 4 years. (My daughter is 29 years old and has a learning disability, living independently with support). Jemini provides a person-centred service to my daughter in her own home and makes sure my daughter’s feet are well looked after.
